First version of mafia connections map. Started with the list of names on the left so lots of research necessary to get to version on right. I think this shows some of the problems of information design, designers often pack the screen to show that they’ve got lots of information to show. Connections are shown but not actually readable.
Second iteration of the mafia connections map. A heat and proximity map principle, simpler overview of connections. When outer circle is clicked it takes the place of the centre subject. An attempt to make the whole experience a bit more adaptive and responsive.
Third iteration of the mafia connections map. Engaging with some of the emerging ideas about the three dimensional datascape. You can rotate the axes to find the person you’re interested in, proximity and heat map principles remain visually the same but more connections are possible.
